So I'm currently sitting in the Dubai International Airport awaiting my departure for Khartoum. At this point, I have already been traveling for over 24 hours, and I am incredibly confused about what day it is. That is to say, I know that it is technically early Monday afternoon where I sit. But I departed on Saturday an 8:30 PM, and I've only been traveling for a day, so how is it that I've made it to midday on Monday? I suppose my body will adjust eventually, but at this point I've only slept about 5 hours total since I left, and I'm not sure I'll get any more sleep between now and the time I arrive in Khartoum (approximately 6 PM this evening).

In any case, this is the beginning of my Sudan blogging. However, I am already suspecting that this will be less interesting than my Eritrea blog, because it sounds like it may not include any pictures. While MPs in Eritrea would regularly tell us not to photograph specific subjects in Eritrea, photography in general was fine. In contrast, I got an email today that says that photography without a permit is forbidden in Sudan. Bit rather than saying that I should apply for a permit, the email goes on to say that I shouldn't take photographs. This worries and upsets me, since I got so much out of taking pictures in Eritrea. Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see.

In the meantime, I'm sitting here feeling very uncomfortable, because although there are various seats around, some guy has decided to sit down right next to me. And I'm worried he's reading over my shoulder.
