"Emergencies" in Sudan

Emergencies in Sudan are all relative. While recent weeks have brought increased attacks, carjackings, and demonstrations in Darfur, we in Khartoum have our own little emergencies.

Last week, my friend Nota sent the following email to our friend Joel in Darfur to request his help with one of our little "emergencies":

Dear Joel:
Hope you are doing well in El fasher!
We have a small emergency here and need your help.
Is there any chance you could ask your CIA friend to get us (Chris, junko and myself) on the list for the Halloween party this friday?
